Copyrighting is a practice in the western world which is meant to promote the development and use of people’s ideas. Without the protection of a copyright, your work becomes open to any plagiarist who comes along and would rather steal work than do it themselves. You can copyright your work as easily as affixing your name and date on your work of art, often by using a ‘watermark’ to clearly stamps your work as your own, or by publishing your work through a company which will copyright for your protection and for theirs. No matter how you do it, it’s important to do it so that you can be sure that your work stays yours.
